The questions keep coming in from our customers, and we’ll keep answering them! Let’s dive right into this week’s questions.
24-hour review vs instant booking
We heard from one customer who wants travelers to sign their House Rules & liability contract before they book, and wondered if online booking or instant booking would still work for them. Good news - either option will work. House Rules lets travelers know what is allowed and expected at your property before they book. Travelers must agree to your House Rules and policies at the time of booking.
Another guest liked the idea of Instant Booking, but would rather be able to check the dates of the stay before accepting the reservation. Not a problem; that’s why we offer the 24-hour review option - to give you time to review before accepting.
One owner wanted some advice on the best place to find a house cleaning service in the Santa Cruz area. We’d recommend going to https://partners.homeaway.com/, adding in your zip code, and you’ll get a list of trusted partners in your area that can help you with everything from cleaning to marketing your property.
We’ve heard from a lot of owners and property managers who are excited about using traveler reviews to filter prospective guests. But how do you access those reviews?
When you’re corresponding with a prospective guest through the HomeAway platform, you’ll be able to click on them to view their traveler profile. Here you’ll find their overall star rating as well as past reviews from other property owners & managers.
Stick with the stick?
And finally, one person wondered if a guest leaves something untouched like butter in the refrigerator (still wrapped), should they leave it for the next guest or just take it home and discard it? If you’re 100% sure it wasn’t opened (i.e. if it’s in a sealed box), you can always leave it for the next guest. If there’s ever any doubt, it’s probably best to discard.
Thank you for continuing to send us your questions - we hope you’re learning from our Discovery Hub and our blog, and through your questions, we’re learning too! We’ll see you next time, but until then, please keep your questions and comments coming.

Though we choose our dining tables based on our style preferences and practical needs, we also consider how conducive the tables will be to the experiences we hope to have there. We imagine family and friends sharing stories and laughs around our dining tables, and we think about how special the holidays will feel. If warm and welcoming is your aim, pull up a chair and find inspiration in these dining room tables just right for lingering over (with dessert), no matter your style.Read More
