We’re dedicating this first post to some changes we just launched – the ability to book properties online and the corresponding search changes travelers will see.
New search filters for online bookable properties
Starting last week travelers will see a new search filter on HomeAway.com, allowing them to view listings with a “book it” button. (This search filter was introduced a few weeks back on VRBO) This “book it” button is part of our new online booking feature, which gives travelers the option to submit a reservation directly from a listing along with a paid deposit. The owner then has 24 hours to review the request and either accept or decline the reservation.
You will also see an icon on the search results page for any property that accepts online booking.
Owners that have signed up for online booking may take advantage of a quicker booking process while maintaining control of who stays in their home. This feature has also been a popular request from travelers because it makes the process of booking a vacation rental more similar to a hotel. Over time, we expect the number of properties that accept online booking to grow as owners and travelers gain a greater understanding of the benefits.
